On a trip like this, you learn to appreciate the little things in life like sleeping in your own bed, being anywhere except in the car for eight hours per day every day or reliable cell phone service. Or, in Mike's case, pulling up to the Burger King drive-thru for a quick lunch and discovering.........wait for it......poutine! I'm not sure he'll ever leave Canada, the land of poutine.
Canadians order more than 78.6 million servings of poutine annually. That's why poutine is now a staple on Burger King's menu. The fast food chain offers three varieties: Classic Poutine (fries with gravy and cheese curds), Angry Poutine (all things classic plus angry sauce, angry onions and jalepeno peppers), and Bacon Poutine (all things classic plus a whole lot of bacon). My husband is a big fan of the Angry Poutine.
I'm not a big fan of the drowsiness that kicks in about 30 minutes after he consumes it which leads to the angry shouting of things like, "Hey, you're drifting again!" and "Wake up and stay in your own lane please or pull over and let me drive!"
